A zine is commonly associated with terms like accessibility, circulation, rebellion, and participation. Interested in the duality of limitation and possibility that a photocopied zine possesses, I created a piece that blurs the line between public and private.
Much of the text and imagery in the collage are products of my initial process, collecting and accumulating various texts and images through restraining myself to randomly chosen books. I integrated handwritten notes, sketches, sticky notes, messages to myself, tape, or cut up words that convey the hidden, unseen skeleton of language or thought. I see this zine as a space where ‟the little stuff” can live as a circulation of unfinished or broken thoughts, serving as a public, revolutionary distribution of the private.
